PartyGaming Plc was founded in 1997 with the launch of Starluck Casino. Today, we are the world's leading listed online gaming company.
In 1998, we implemented our proprietary gaming and processing software, which provided us with a greater degree of control over our IT platform and improved our competitive advantage.
In 2001, we launched PartyPoker.com. This site is now one of the world's largest online poker brands (based on "ring game" revenue and number of players).
In 2003, we launched PartyBingo.com.
On 30th June 2005, the Company listed its shares on the London Stock Exchange at a price of 116p per share, valuing the Company at approximately £4.6 Billion.
In February 2006, the Group launched PartyCasino.com as part of its fully integrated, Party-branded gaming platform. Players can move between PartyPoker.com and other Party brands using one account and a shared purse. PartyGammon.com joined the Party-branded platform with its launch in June, and PartyBingo.com was added to the platform in July. In August, the Group acquired Gamebookers, a non-US facing sports betting business.
On 13 October 2006 the US passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, effectively making it illegal to offer online games to US persons. As a result, the Group immediately took action to block access to its sites by customers based in the US.
In January 2007, the Group completed the acquisition of the assets, players and gaming related contracts of Empire Online and all of the online gaming businesses of Intercontinental Online Gaming. This strengthened PartyGaming's casino and poker offering and added a number of important secondary brands.
In March 2007, the Group launched its multi-currency facility allowing customers to manage and make deposits into their accounts in Euros and Pounds Sterling in addition to US dollars.
